Gnutella and Bittorrent might be the stars of the peer-to-peer world right now, but coming very close from behind is Ares, a spun-off of the Gnutella network in 2002. It boasts of having its own decentralized network of leaves and super nodes, and an uncomplicated, quick access interface. Along with Ares’ file-sharing capability, this freeware comes with a built-in media player, media organizer, chat and skins. It is also available in 18 different languages.
Beginners will find no problem installing the software. A 4MB installer will give you Ares up and running in just a matter of minutes, showcasing a very sleek appearance. Upon running the program, it gives you an option to scan your computer for files you might want to share to the network, with no complex configuration needed at all. Ease of use and installation is one advantage Ares has over the likes of Limewire, FrostWire and BearShare.
The fact that the likes of eDonkey have already fallen at the hands of RIAA and Ares left standing behind is a brief understatement of its reliability. With its strong user community, very usable interface and cool multichat service, expect Ares to rise and take over the peer-to-peer world anytime soon.
