Caleb Castille. Does that last name ring any bells? Yes, he’s the son of Jeremiah Castille and the last of the sons to go through college ball eventually. With all of his family having attended the University of Alabama, it is not likely that he’d go any place else. However, because he is only a Sophomore in high school his future remains unpaved. I recently got to catch up with Caleb, and he was gracious enough to allow me to interview him.
When asked if any schools had contacted him thus far, and if he has any favorites he said, “Alabama is the only school to contact me this past football season. I went there a lot. Naturally, they are my favorite.”
Briarwood Christian is known for being a great school, and I asked him what his experiences on the team ( starting as a Sophomore on the Varsity team) helped him progress as a player. He said, ” My experience on the Briarwood Christian football team has helped me progress as a player because I have wonderful coaches who correct me on every mistake I make. I then make it my job to fix the mistakes so that I can be the best football player possible.”
The talent on the field has carried over into the classroom as well, as Caleb seems to have adjusted to life in high school just fine. ” I have a 3.5 GPA at the moment, but I am aiming for a 4.0 by the time I graduate.”
He stands at 5′11 and reports a 4.41 40 yard dash. He also weighs 168 pounds. Regarding his position on the football team : ” This past season I played halfback and slot receiver. This season you can look forward to seeing me on defense at the cornerback position.” ______________________________________________________
Mark Ingram II has been getting a lot of attention from Alabama lately, and rightly so. The four star athlete from Flint, Michigan is one of the best recruits left on the board, and it is no wonder Alabama is pursuing him very hard. He has attained over 22 scholarship offers, and has his favorites narrowed down.
“My favorite schools are Alabama, Iowa State, Michigan State, Arizona and Wisconsin.”
He recently visited Alabama and he spoke very highly of the University and his visit. “I really enjoyed my visit to Alabama. I am real close with luther davis and current commit Robby Green.”
“I really like Alabama. The people are really welcoming, and it is a good program with a lot of tradition. Also, I like the player’s attitudes. They have the same goals and aspirations as I do.”
As of late, Alabama appears to be in good favor with Ingram. While nothing is definite yet, Ingram will announce at 8 A.M. Central Time on February 6th.
“I wanna go somewhere I’m going to be successful both on and off the field, and where I will have good people surrounding me socially.”
Ingram is a likely impact Freshman at whichever school he attends.
“The coaches at Alabama said I would have a great opportunity to impact the team as a freshman on the field, and as a leader on and off the field.”
“Mostly every schools I’m looking at has told me I would have the chance to play as a true freshmen. It just depends on what happens at each place.”
Ingram plans to major in communications, with aspirations to pursue a future career in sports broadcasting. He stands at 5′10 and runs a 4.48 forty yard dash.
